Analysis:Technical	Technical Analysis. A method of trading based upon the recognition of different paterns in the charts of the stock, option, or comodity in question.
ARPU	Average Revenue Per Unit. Commonly used financial benchmark in the cable industry to measure average revenue per cable subscriber.
ASDS	Adaptive Switched Digital Services
ASTB	Advanced Set Top Box Typically a STB with advanced features such as: - Build in cable modem - Multiple tuners - Higher res overlay graphics - More powerful CPU
ATSC	Advanced Television Systems Committee. Another expert group and standard promoting body that has created standards for American Television. ATSC Standards

BFS	Broadcast File System
Blueprints	Java Blueprints are refered to often by Sun in thier written materials. Blueprints are Sun's "Best Practices" for approaching common problems. In a sense, blueprints are sun's way of designating how to utilize specific technologies for different kinds of problems. Blueprints usually include sample implementations. Blueprints
BPEL	Business Process Execution Language is a business process modeling language that is executable. It's primary concern is ocrhestration of business processes.
Broadcast	One to many.
CableCard	A removable security module (in a PCMCIA or PC card form factor) which, when inserted in an OpenCable certified set-top, television or other device, enables delivery of digital video programming and other services. The OpenCable specification is designed in part to support the retail sale of advanced digital set- top boxes and other devices. CableCARDs will be provided directly by the cable operator to customers who request them. Or a CableCARD is a detachable device, distributed by cable providers, that connects to the home receiver. The interface between the CableCARD unit and the receiver is specified by the OpenCable platform. CableCARD functionality includes copy protection and signal demodulation.
CAS	Conditional Access System. A CAS system is responsible for the security of content, and enabling subscribers to access individual programs worth of content while it is broadcasted globally to all subscribers.
CFX	Apache CFX incubator project deals with Web Services definition and binding. It appears to be the the successor to XFire. Apache CFX
CLEC	Competitive Local Exchange Carrier. An alternative local telephone company that competes against incumbent Local Exchange Carriers (LECs) for local and access business. Also known as a Competitive Access Provider (CAP) or Alternate Local Telephone (ALT) company. CMS	Call Management Server HHUPDATE
CMTS	Cable Modem Termination System. HHUPDATE (Cable Labs not a good definition)--> Located at the cable television system headend or distribution hub, a CMTS provides complementary functionality to the cable modems to enable data connectivity to a wide-area network. <-- HHUPDATE
CPE	Customer Premise Equipment Typically used to differentiate between customer equipment and operator equipment. Example of CPE are: - Computers - Television - Broadband Router (ala LinkSys/Netgear) CPE necessarily interface with operator equipment such as Cable Modems or ASTB's to receive broadband services.

DASE	Digital Application Software Environment A subcommittee of the ATSC. Similar to MHP in that it specifies a Java runtime in a consumer video device. HHUPDATE DASE
